| Geotechnical investigations collect information on the nature of the soil and groundwater conditions below a site, with an emphasis on determining the parameters that will affect the behaviour of the soils under future loading conditions. DCS provides geotechnical engineering services as a component of site remediation and redevelopment projects, as well as on a stand alone basis. Geotechnical services are frequently required to facilitate site remediation projects, which often incorporate excavations and other earthworks. Site investigation costs can be reduced through undertaking a combined geotechnical and environmental investigation, as the investigation equipment employed is common to both types of studies. The geotechnical information can be used to guide the design of the foundations of the buildings and structures, as well as for the design of excavation side slopes and shoring and construction dewatering requirements. This information can be particularly useful early in the landuse planning of a project for sites underlain with extensive deposits of fill or weak soils. DCS provides a full range of geotechnical services including site investigations, laboratory testing, geotechnical engineering analysis and construction supervision. Our staff have a strong geotechnical academic background as well as extensive field experience on projects such as earth dam construction, pile and caisson foundations, above ground storage tank foundations, containment dyke construction and geosynthetic liner installation.
