Infection
Control is a serious concern when construction or remediation
activities are carried out in health care facilities. Infection
caused by exposure to airborne dust particles contaminated with
certain common mould species can cause severe illness or mortality
in immunocompromised patients. It is imperative that any construction
and maintenance work in hospitals be assessed at the planning stage
for potential impacts and, where required, be performed under carefully
controlled conditions.
 Our
areas of expertise in "infection control" are primarily
related to work area isolation and decontamination to ensure
that any dust (and mould) generated by the work is controlled
and does not contaminate areas outside the construction work
area.
Our
services typically include:
- site
investigations to review site conditions and project requirements
- developing
scopes of work and technical specifications for work area
isolation and decontamination;
- tendering
assistance;
- site
inspection of construction activities;
- air
monitoring; and
- project
reporting and documentation.
