Mr. Richard Browne has more than 25 years of consulting experience in environmental and geotechnical engineering. He has been involved as a project manager for a wide range of projects including subsurface investigations of soil and groundwater contamination; geotechnical site investigations; development, design and supervision of site remediation programs; and in geotechnical and foundation engineering for site remediation, property redevelopment and mine closure projects. Mr. Browne has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering for commercial and industrial buildings, transportation routes and structures, dams and powerhouses, industrial plants, refineries and mine sites. This experience has been gained on project sites throughout Canada, as well as internationally.

Mr. Richard Browne has been involved in numerous projects including:

  • coordination of the investigation of an abandoned dry stack tailings basin near Thunder Bay, Ontario to determine appropriate geotechnical design for closure of the tailings area;
  • site characterization and risk assessment studies for a wild life corridor greenspace as well as a proposed large format retail facility to be constructed on a hydrocarbon impacted property formerly owned by a multinational oil company in the Toronto Portlands;
  • geotechnical and environmental investigations for the extension of Basin Street in Toronto over soft, compressible peat deposits which required preloading to mitigate potential settlements;
  • geotechnical investigations, including slope stability analyses, for a residential subdivision to be built along the crest of a 20 to 30 m high slope along the Humber River in Bolton, Ontario; and
     
  • environmental and geotechnical investigations for a residential subdivision in Etobicoke, Ontario, on the site of a former industrial plant.
